Halloween bingo cards to print
A spooky but friendly word set for a classroom party, a costume evening or the half hour before trick-or-treating starts. Nothing on the list is gory, so it suits a mixed group of ages, and the grid can shrink for the youngest players.

Tips for a Halloween party game
- A class of 28 needs 28 cards, which is the starting number here: fourteen sheets at two cards each and the call sheet on a fifteenth.
- Call in character. A slow, creaky voice for each word, with the slips pulled out of a plastic cauldron or a treat bucket, turns ten minutes of bingo into the main event of the party.
- Wrapped candy are the obvious markers, with one rule: nobody eats a marker until someone has won. Plastic spiders or orange paper dots do the job where candy are not allowed in school.
- For nursery and reception ages, cut the list down to the gentlest words such as bat, black cat, costume and full moon, pick the three by three grid and act out each call.
- At a costume party, add your guests' costumes to the word box and let players mark a square when that costume walks in. It gives early arrivals something to watch for.

Questions
Are these Halloween bingo cards too scary for young children?
The list sticks to storybook figures such as ghosts, witches and skeletons, with no blood or violence. If a word worries you, remove its line from the box before printing and it will not appear on any card.
How long does a round of Halloween bingo take?
With the five by five grid, a single line usually needs a good share of the fifty words to be called, so allow ten to fifteen minutes. Three by three rounds finish in a few minutes, which suits a busy party timetable.
Can I print the cards in black and white?
Yes. Tick the ink saver option and the cards print as plain black lines on white, which also photocopies cleanly. Orange or purple paper gives color without using colored ink.
What can I use instead of candy as bingo markers?
Buttons, small counters, dried pasta, torn scraps of orange paper or a crayon cross all work. Counters keep the cards reusable for a second class or a second round.
